Man or God
Now am I pleasing men or God? No, do I seek to please men? If I please men even today, I am not a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10
Phrases that make you meditate. Does that convey something to us? Does that annoy you? Yes, You are from God.
According to Solomon (Proverbs 29:25), "The fear of man is a snare." One cannot serve Christ as a servant if they fear people, according to Paul.
Speak their language, laugh at their jokes, and try to act like them in order to blend in with a group at work or on college. This will not work out well.
Ask David.
Out of fear for Saul, David escaped to a city in Palestine. Went to Gath (1 Samuel 21). "Is this not David?" asked the king of Gath's attendants upon their arrival “Did not they sing one to another of him, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, but David his ten thousands?”
When David realised that they knew who he was. The passage in the text says, "So David pretended to be someone else, acting like a maniac and spitting through his beard while he was under their control. David, poor guy. How desperate the circumstances are. Well-known for his courage and skill, the guy who killed Goliath now acts foolishly out of fear of other people. It is a disaster.
David was still embarrassed and ashamed of this situation, even though the plan had succeeded. Thousands of years later, we're still talking about David acting foolishly out of fear of humans.
Adolescents, youngsters, and even adults behaving foolishly is astounding. People fear men, therefore they want to fit in. The idea that those who have experienced victory in the Lord and who, like David, loved God appear like spitting idiots when they fear man and other things is not exaggeration.
It's true that dread of humans breeds disgrace, as even the world's wicked cry, "Get him out of here" (1 Sam 21:14, 15).
May we live as a God-fearing generation. We can only fear and serve Him who has the power to cast both soul and body into Hell. We can rely on God's grace. That is the good news.
